Postal Service

Post is delivered to Tajikistan, but delivery times range from about two weeks to never. Letters and other printed matter seem to get through fairly consistently, but other kinds of package can disappear mysteriously. Sometimes the package arrives, but with some of the contents missing, and - frustrating but amusing - with other things substituted in their place.

If you rent a P.O. Box, post can be received in Dushanbe's main Post Office (next to the Somoni monument on the central square on Rudaki). Outgoing post can also be sent from here. You will have to place letters or postcards inside an envelope supplied by the Post Office, so don't bother bringing your own.

Courier services

Courier service to Tajikistan is - surprisingly - also quite unreliable. Again, it is fine for documents but other kinds of parcel sometimes disappear en route. At least with the courier services the shipment is insured.
